On September 9, ByteDance's Volcengine upgraded the Doubao Seed-Evolving model under the unified Model ID doubao-seed-evolving. The model is designed for agent and coding scenarios, with complex task orchestration, long-horizon planning, code generation, and tool-calling capabilities.
The two core upgrades in this release are stronger agent execution and multimodal understanding. The model can sustain complex tasks, coordinate and accept asynchronous sub-tasks, and use image, video, and page understanding for reasoning and operation, making deep research, office collaboration, and long-horizon task delivery more robust.
Seed-Evolving uses a dynamic iteration mechanism, letting users access the latest version through the unified Model ID without tracking releases. The Doubao Seed 2.1 family is also available in Pro and Turbo: Pro targets strong requirement understanding, long-term planning, and continuous repair, priced at ¥6 input and ¥30 output per 1M tokens; Turbo targets low-cost, low-latency scenarios at half of Pro pricing—¥3 input and ¥15 output per 1M tokens.
