On September 11, Google officially released a standalone Gemini desktop app for Windows 10 and Windows 11. After installation, users can summon the app globally with the default Alt+Space hotkey, which is also customizable.
The app features a clean interface that integrates prompt input, multi-model selection, voice input, and conversation history, along with image and video generation and integration with third-party applications. The settings menu provides options for permission management, usage statistics, crash reports, and auto-start on boot.
The move marks a deeper integration of Gemini into the Windows ecosystem. Unlike the search-focused Google Search desktop app released in April, the Windows Gemini app is a more comprehensive standalone client covering conversation, creation, and third-party integration.
