NVIDIA partners with eight Australian providers for up to 2GW DSX AI factory buildout by 2027
On September 9, NVIDIA announced in Melbourne partnerships with eight Australian providers—Firmus, Sharon AI, IREN, Megaport, ResetData, CDC, NEXTDC, and AirTrunk—for an AI factory buildout of up to 2GW by 2027.
On September 9, NVIDIA announced in Melbourne collaborations with eight Australian NVIDIA Cloud Partners and AI infrastructure providers to expand land, power, and shell capacity for multi-generation NVIDIA DSX AI factories. The buildout is targeted at up to 2GW by 2027.
Participating providers include Firmus, Sharon AI, IREN, Megaport, ResetData, CDC, NEXTDC, and AirTrunk. They will operate the AI factories while NVIDIA delivers the DSX platform, accelerated computing, networking, software, and ecosystem support. Sharon AI will deploy up to 68,000 NVIDIA GPUs connected via NVIDIA Quantum InfiniBand and Spectrum-X Ethernet. IREN will combine the DSX architecture with its capabilities across power, land, data centers, GPU deployment, and infrastructure operations, including its 800-megawatt Bundey campus in South Australia.
Raj Mirpuri, NVIDIA vice president of global AI clouds and infrastructure ecosystem, said AI factories turn energy into intelligence, the essential resource of the AI economy. He described DSX as a full-stack platform compatible with the CUDA ecosystem and continuously enhanced through software over the life of the infrastructure, making AI factories more productive, fungible, durable, and a new investable asset class.
The expanded capacity will provide high-performance AI compute for Australian startups, universities, researchers, enterprises, developers, and AI-native companies. Organizations including Heidi and Atlassian will use accelerated computing and NVIDIA Nemotron open models to build local AI models, applications, and agents for Australian industries.
