OpenAI releases ChatGPT for Financial Services powered by GPT-6 Astra

OpenAI launched ChatGPT for Financial Services on September 11, built for investment bankers and traders, combining built-in financial data with GPT-6 Astra reasoning for financial modeling and research.

On September 11, OpenAI released ChatGPT for Financial Services, a financial-industry-specific ChatGPT Work experience powered by the GPT-6 Astra reasoning engine. The version combines built-in financial data connectors with GPT-6 Astra's reasoning capability, targeting investment banking analysts, traders, and wealth management teams for research, financial model construction, and customized client material preparation.

This is OpenAI's second major enterprise move in two days, following the September 10 launch of the Data Agent in the ChatGPT Work platform. OpenAI's target customers are broadly read as Wall Street banks, private equity firms, and asset managers.

The product launch comes amid reported preparations for OpenAI's 2027 IPO, which the market broadly interprets as a key step to strengthen the enterprise paid user base and industry-specific solutions before listing. The same day on September 10, Microsoft and OpenAI also announced GPT-6 Astra availability in Copilot Cowork, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Foundry, and GitHub Copilot.
