SpaceX signs $1.11B/month AI compute deal, CFO confirms $100B ARR year-end target

SpaceX CFO Bret Johnsen disclosed on September 10 during a fireside chat at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference that the company recently signed a new AI compute hosting contract valued at approximately $1.11 billion per month, or $13.3 billion annualized, effective December 1, 2026.

Johnsen did not name the customer but said the deal gives management even more conviction in hitting the $100 billion ARR target by year-end. Combined with prior agreements with Anthropic ($1.25B/month through May 2029) and Google ($920M/month starting October 2026), SpaceX's monthly AI compute revenue is expected to exceed $3.4B in December.

On infrastructure, SpaceX plans to deploy more than 2 GW of terrestrial AI compute capacity by year-end 2026 and 5 to 10 GW in 2027. The company invested about $16 billion in AI infrastructure in Q2 2026. Johnsen noted that most compute contracts follow a roughly 90-day plus 90-day extension structure, giving SpaceX flexibility to reclaim capacity for internal products like xAI's Grok and Cursor.

The longer-term plan is to launch the first orbital compute satellites in 2027, with large-scale deployment in 2028. These satellites are based on the V3 Starlink platform, replacing communications payloads with compute hardware and adding more solar capacity.
